one thing i still remember is washing pavements every morning whether its raining or not. Then the jamaaz in the upper forms came with mud and stepped where you just washed.

J.G kiereini High Sch.
In the school where I was, it was a weekend pass time for the upperclassmen to enjoy mono's while they are seated at the dooms.
- "we mono a.k.a ngui, enda ubuy mkate na soda na ulete change", saa hiyo they only gave you a five shilling coin.
-"enda ufue hii shati na uilete ikiwa blue" - that means brings your new shirt since 'his' is dull due to hand-washing every night, it was basically white.
-Hot water in our school was a hot commodity; mono's used to wash the DH, the only place where the kitchen was accessible; where do you find hot water? mazee it's like mono's had a double task; they would get orders to steal hot water for upperclassmen while they cleaned up, slowed mono's down mbaya sana.

I guess i was just lucky, thou, there were no such things in my skul, we had 'appointed mothers' {3rd formers} who made sure that didn't happen [ u can imagine ur clads being washed till midterm and u never hata ur lunch or super or a bucket of water]. and on my third year i didnt have a kid to take care of. but we had a promotion day one wk b4 senior do their finals. it was tough but no one landed on me. thats why i count maself lucky
